The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is set to embark on the Great Indian Coastal Cyclothon, a monumental ride marking its 56th anniversary. This historic journey, aimed at spreading awareness on maritime security, will cover 6,553 km across 11 coastal states.

The rally will arrive in Panambur on March 26, and the official flag-off will take place early morning on March 27 from the New Mangaluru Port Authority premises. This initiative, themed “Secure Shores, Prosperous India,” aims to educate citizens on coastal threats like smuggling, drug trafficking, and illegal arms trade, according to Sudhir Kumar, Additional Director General, CISF.

A total of 125 determined CISF cyclists, including 14 women, will undertake this rigorous expedition over 25 days. The event commences on March 7 from two separate points—Lakhpat, Gujarat (West Coast), and Bakkhali, West Bengal (East Coast). The western route covers 3,775 km, while the eastern path spans 2,778 km.

The rally will pass through key coastal hubs such as Mumbai, Goa, Mangaluru, Kochi, Haldia, Konark, Vizag, Chennai, and Puducherry, culminating at the Swami Vivekananda Memorial, Kanyakumari, on March 31.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will virtually inaugurate the event from CISF’s Regional Training Centre in Tamil Nadu. The journey will feature demonstrations, cultural programs, and community engagements, culminating in a grand patriotic celebration in Kanyakumari.
