Mangaluru: A 12-year-old schoolgirl from Kandavara, who had been battling pneumonia for the past week, passed away on Tuesday, leaving her family, friends and school community in mourning.
The deceased has been identified as Rithi (12), a Class 6 student of Bethany CBSE School, Kinnikambla, near Kaikamba in Gurupura. She was the daughter of photographer Deepak Kotian and Jayashree.
Succumbs after week-long illness
According to family sources, Rithi had been undergoing treatment for pneumonia for the past week. Despite medical efforts, she succumbed to the illness on Tuesday.
Her untimely death has come as a shock to relatives, neighbours and well-wishers, who remembered her as a bright and cheerful child.
School community mourns loss
Teachers, classmates and staff of Bethany CBSE School expressed grief over the passing of the young student. Her death has cast a pall of sadness over the school, with many remembering her for her enthusiasm and friendly nature.
Friends and neighbours also visited the bereaved family to offer their condolences during this difficult time.

The tragic loss has deeply affected the Kandavara and Gurupura communities. Family members, relatives and local residents have expressed their heartfelt sympathies to Rithi’s parents and prayed for strength to help them cope with the irreparable loss.
