Mangaluru: A tragic accident claimed the life of a schoolgirl after a tree fell on a moving school bus near Mangaluru on Wednesday. Two other students sustained injuries in the incident and were shifted to hospital for treatment.
According to preliminary information, the school bus was travelling along its regular route when a tree suddenly collapsed onto the vehicle. The impact caused severe damage to the bus and left several students trapped inside.
One student dies, two injured
Emergency responders and local residents rushed to the spot and rescued the students from the damaged bus. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital, where one schoolgirl succumbed to her injuries. Two others are undergoing treatment.
Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances that led to the tree collapse.
Authorities begin inquiry
Officials are assessing whether recent weather conditions or the weakened condition of the tree contributed to the incident. Civic authorities are also expected to inspect roadside trees in the area to prevent similar accidents.
