Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the newly constructed Deputy Commissioner’s office complex at Padil on May 16, marking a major administrative milestone for the district.
District minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, after a review meeting and site inspection along with Assembly Speaker UT Khader, confirmed the inauguration plans. Rao noted that Siddaramaiah had laid the foundation stone during his previous term, and while the building was completed earlier, finishing works accelerated after the Congress government returned to power.
The state-of-the-art facility, costing ₹75 crore, will accommodate 23 departments, with ₹20 crore funded by Mangaluru Smart City Limited (MSCL). Several departments will move in ahead of the inauguration, with the rest expected to shift in the following weeks.
On the same day, the CM will also:
- Inaugurate the indoor stadium at Urwa Store
- Attend the 22nd quinquennial and 432nd annual uroos at Ullal Dargah (Sayyid Mohammed Shareeful Madani Dargah)
As part of the event, over 7,000 beneficiaries will receive RTC documents under the ‘Podi Mukta Gramas’ revenue campaign, with most recipients from Belthangady, Bantwal, and Puttur.
Benefits from welfare schemes like Sukanya Samruddhi Yojane and programs for women, minorities, and the differently abled will also be distributed.
