Regardless of whether the victim is Suhas Shetty or Abdul Rehman, any murder tarnishes the reputation of Dakshina Kannada district, said a Congress leader during a recent meeting.

He emphasized that Abdul Rehman was known for his peaceful nature and had no criminal past. “His brutal killing by those close to him is deeply disturbing and deserves strong condemnation,” he stated.

The leader expressed hope that with capable officers now posted in the district, a safer and more harmonious society can be rebuilt through fair and firm law enforcement.

He also made a strong appeal to political figures to refrain from delivering inflammatory remarks that could worsen communal tensions. “Before making provocative comments, politicians should imagine such tragedies happening in their own families. Perhaps then, they will understand the emotional and societal damage caused,” he added.

The gathering saw the presence of several key local leaders including Shashidhar Hegde, Prakash Salian, Suhan Alva, Dinesh Mulur, Appi Neerajchandra Pal, T. Honnaiah, and Prem Ballalbag. The collective tone was one of reflection, responsibility, and a call for unity amidst rising communal concerns.

The message was clear: rebuilding trust and maintaining peace must be the top priority for both political representatives and the community at large.
