In a coordinated raid targeting illegal sand mining in Karnataka’s Bantwal taluk, authorities confiscated 23 boats valued at Rs 46 lakh. Officials from the revenue, mines, geology, and police departments joined forces to carry out the operation along the banks of the Nethravathi River in Valachil, Maripalla, Pudu, and nearby areas. These boats were being used for unauthorized sand extraction and have now been impounded at Adyar Katte.

The operation was led by Mangaluru Assistant Commissioner Harshavardhan, with support from Mangaluru Tahsildar Prashanth Patil, Bantwal Tahsildar Archana Bhat, and officials from the mines and geology department. Complaints regarding illegal sand mining in the region prompted the action.
