
Dakshina Kannada Gears Up for 27th District Kannada Literary Meet
Mangaluru: The 27th District Kannada Literary Conference of the Dakshina Kannada Sahitya Parishat is set to take place on February 21 and 22 at Mangalore University’s Mangala Auditorium, within assembly speaker U.T. Khader’s constituency. Organized in collaboration with Mangalore University, the event will bring together eminent scholars, emerging writers, and students.
Books, Culture & Festivities
Speaker U.T. Khader, unveiling the invitation, announced that 18 books will be launched during the literary festival. The event will also feature a book exhibition, a food festival, and cultural performances to celebrate the richness of Kannada literature and heritage. He stressed the importance of literary events in strengthening Kannada pride and encouraged active participation from students, writers, and the public to make the conference a model for the state.
Showcasing District’s Heritage
Reception committee general secretary Dhananjay Kumble confirmed that 18 books by various authors will be released. Alongside, an exhibition highlighting Dakshina Kannada’s cultural legacy will be set up, featuring book and food stalls. A grand procession with traditional village offerings will also be part of the festivities.
Painting Competition for Young Artists
A district-level painting contest will be held on February 22, organized by NG Pavanje Chair in Fine Arts, Mangalore University. Categories include folk art (undergraduates), cleanliness & environment (high school), and environment (primary school), with cash prizes and certificates for winners.
