The allocation of spaces within Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) limits for selling firecrackers during Deepavali has sparked controversy. On Wednesday, MCC officials arrived at Nehru Maidan to initiate the tender process and designate spots for firecracker stalls, which led to objections from the Cricket Association.
Geetanjali, speaking to the media, explained, “MCC officials asked for the gate to be opened for the tender process. I requested a written order, but they claimed to have permission from the district administration. Even the court has stated that Nehru Maidan is to be used exclusively for sports. We’ve raised this concern with MCC officials.”
