Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan inspected the National Highway (NH) works at Kalladka on Wednesday, traveling by two-wheeler to assess the road conditions firsthand. This inspection follows a recent directive from DK District in-charge Minister Dinesh Gundurao, who had sharply criticized NH officials for the poor state of the Mangaluru-Bengaluru highway during a progress review meeting. Gundurao had mandated that the road be made motorable within two to three days.

In light of these instructions, DC Muhilan’s visit aimed to ensure compliance and expedite the necessary improvements. By choosing to travel on a two-wheeler, the DC was able to experience the road conditions as regular commuters do, allowing for a more accurate assessment. He provided essential instructions to K.N.R.C, the company responsible for undertaking the highway works, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

Accompanying the DC on this inspection were Bantwal Tahsildar Archana Bhat, Traffic Police Inspector Sutesh, and Revenue Inspector Janardhan, among others. Their presence underscored the coordinated effort between various departments to address the road conditions and improve the infrastructure promptly.

This proactive approach by the Deputy Commissioner is expected to accelerate the repair work and ensure that the highway becomes safe and motorable for the public within the stipulated timeframe.
