Mangaluru: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Tuesday questioned a fresh round of witnesses and activists in Belthangady as part of its ongoing probe into the Sowjanya case and related allegations.

Those summoned included YouTubers Munaf and Abhishek, activists Jayant T and Girish Mattanavar, slain Sowjanya’s uncle Vittal Gowda, and local resident Pradeep. A woman relative also accompanied Jayant for interrogation.

SIT questioning continues late into the night

Speaking to reporters after his appearance, Munaf said the SIT questioned him until 11 pm on Monday, during which his statements were recorded.

“The SIT is functioning effectively. Whatever details I have, I shared with them. They are investigating various aspects, not just the skull handed over by the complainant-witness,” Munaf told the media.

He clarified that his mobile phones were not seized and added that his video on the case was published only after the complainant-witness had already given statements before the court.

Commitment to justice

Munaf, who hails from Sagar and has been settled in Kerala for the past 10 years, reiterated his commitment:

“I trust the SIT. I have been seeking justice for Sowjanya and will continue to do so.”

Broader SIT probe

The SIT has been actively re-examining the skull recovery site near the Nethravathi bathing ghat, interrogating multiple witnesses, and cross-verifying digital content linked to the case. Officials say several leads are under active scrutiny as the investigation deepens.
