Dinesh Gundu Rao Emphasizes Public Welfare at Janata Darshan in Bantwal
Dakshina Kannada district minister Dinesh Gundu Rao highlighted the importance of prioritizing the needs of the poor and common people in government assistance during the Janata Darshan program in Bantwal on Wednesday. He urged government officials to interact with the public courteously, ensuring that everyone is treated with dignity and respect. The minister emphasized that the purpose of the Janata Darshan initiative is to assess the effectiveness of government programs and gather feedback, which will help improve future implementations. While acknowledging that not all concerns raised during the program could be resolved immediately, he reassured attendees that some issues would require time and follow-ups.
Rao also expressed confidence in the Congress government’s successful implementation of its five guarantees. As part of the event, he distributed title deeds to 177 families and offered other benefits, including sewing machines and bee boxes. Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik U expressed his gratitude for the long-awaited title deeds, while MLC Manjunath Bhandary and former minister B Ramanath Rai were also present at the event.
During the program, members of the SDPI and Bantwal Town Municipal Council raised the need for a new bridge over the Netravathi River in Panemangalore. They pointed out that the current bridge, built during the British era in 1914, remains a vital connection between BC Road and key localities. However, structural issues, including weakened pillars from flooding, have raised safety concerns. Despite efforts by officials to prevent heavy vehicle traffic, residents voiced concerns over recent modifications, including the sudden installation of an arch at the bridge entrance, which has caused over 100 accidents. While some advocate for preserving the bridge as a heritage structure, there is an urgent need for a new bridge to ensure safe transportation.
