The foundation stones for two significant road development projects in Dakshina Kannada were officially laid on Tuesday, under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF), a central government initiative.

The projects, with a combined budget of ₹6 crore, were initiated under the leadership of Member of Parliament Capt. Brijesh Chowta. These road upgrades aim to improve infrastructure, strengthen regional linkages, and ensure smoother commutes across key rural and semi-urban areas.

The first project, valued at ₹3.1 crore, focuses on the enhancement of the Subrahmanya-Manjeshwar route via Parladka in Puttur taluk. This 5.2 km stretch, which connects National Highway-275 to State Highway-100, will undergo major reconstruction and modernization. The ceremonial stone laying took place at Machimale.

The second initiative, costing ₹2.9 crore, involves the development of roads between Nintikallu-Bellare-Nettaru and Anchinadka-Kavu-Ishwaramangala-Pallatturu, covering 4.8 km in total. The foundation event was held at Anchinadka.

Upon completion, both projects are anticipated to significantly enhance road connectivity between Karnataka and Kerala, facilitating easier and faster travel for border communities and improving local transportation networks.

Prominent attendees included MLA Ashok Kumar Rai and former MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor, who extended their support to the initiatives aimed at uplifting rural infrastructure and interstate accessibility.
