
Drug peddlers with 119 kg ganja found to be from Andhra Pradesh
Mangaluru: In a major breakthrough, Mangaluru CCB police arrested four inter-state drug peddlers and seized 119 kg of ganja cultivated in the naxal-affected region of Andhra Pradesh.
The arrested individuals are Moideen Shabbir (38) from Kasargod, Mahesh Dhawaraknath Pandey (30) from Thane, currently residing in Vijayawada, Ajai Krishna (33) from Alappuzha, and Jeevan Singh (35) from Haryana’s Jind district.
Acting on a tip-off, the police nabbed the accused near Mittakodi in Kurnadu village, Ullal taluk. Police commissioner Anupam Agrawal stated that the accused procured ganja from Andhra Pradesh and sold it in Mangaluru and Kerala. It was transported hidden in a fish truck and a car.
The operation resulted in the seizure of ganja worth ₹35 lakh, along with five mobile phones and other valuables, totaling ₹51 lakh.
Shabbir, a repeat offender with 12 cases, was arrested in 2023 with 23 kg of ganja but resumed drug peddling after securing bail six months ago. Mahesh has two drug-related cases in Andhra Pradesh, while Ajai has six cases, including robbery, assault, and narcotics offenses.
The operation was led by CCB ACP Manoj Kumar Naik, inspector Rafeeq K. M., and PSI Sharanappa Bhandary.
