Mangaluru: The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) Mangalore city committee held a protest near Kankanady Coastal Circle on Monday, demanding urgent repairs to the severely damaged Kankanady–Bendurwell Road.

Inaugurating the protest, DYFI District President B.K. Imtiaz criticized the administration, saying, “Despite spending thousands of crores under the Smart City project, vital roads in Mangaluru remain neglected. Potholes on this major road are causing daily accidents, and officials must be held accountable for the injuries and fatalities.”

He issued a stern warning: “If the road is not repaired within 15 days, DYFI will intensify its agitation with stronger protests.”

The protest highlighted public frustration over poor road infrastructure in key areas of the city, despite ongoing claims of urban development.
