Ecstasy Route Busted: Mangaluru CCB Nabs Trio in Major Drug Operation
In a high-impact anti-narcotics operation, the Mangaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) arrested three individuals for allegedly trafficking the banned synthetic drug MDMA, commonly known as Ecstasy.
The operation unfolded on April 10, when the CCB team, acting on specific intelligence, intercepted a Toyota Innova (KA-31-N-6311) in Surathkal. During the search, officials recovered 10 grams of MDMA worth ₹1 lakh, ₹4,000 in cash, four mobile phones, and the vehicle itself. The total value of the seized assets amounted to ₹9.24 lakh.
The accused — Mohammad Asif (24) and Askar Ali (31) from Surathkal, and Mohammad Rasheem (24) from Haleyangadi — had reportedly been acquiring the drug from Bengaluru and transporting it to Mangaluru via private bus parcel services.
Upon arrival in the city, the trio allegedly targeted youth and students, distributing Ecstasy in and around the Mukka-Malemar beach stretch. The motive behind their actions was said to be the pursuit of quick, illegal profits and a lavish lifestyle.
Authorities revealed that Mohammad Asif already has two prior criminal cases at the Surathkal police station — one related to drug trafficking and another to assault.
This successful bust was spearheaded by Inspector Rafiq K M, under the supervision of ACP Manoj Kumar Nayak, with vital assistance from PSI Sharanappa Bhandari and other CCB personnel.
Further investigations are underway, as officials believe the drug network involves additional individuals who are yet to be apprehended
