Mangaluru: Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) successfully conducted an emergency airport evacuation mock drill on 7 May 2025, aligning with the National Level Civil Mock Drill directive from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The drill was executed under the Airport Emergency Operation Plan, ensuring adherence to prescribed safety protocols and readiness procedures. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) led the coordination of the exercise, which involved all key airport stakeholders — including ground handling agencies, terminal operators, security personnel, and emergency response teams.
Seamless execution without service disruption
The mock drill was carried out without disrupting regular airport operations, highlighting the airport’s efficiency and its ability to handle critical situations while maintaining passenger services. Timely communication and real-time coordination were hallmarks of the drill, reinforcing stakeholder preparedness in the face of potential emergencies.
Officials confirmed that the scenario was designed to simulate a full-scale evacuation response, testing the airport’s infrastructure, inter-agency communication, and the swift mobilisation of emergency protocols.
The exercise was part of a broader initiative conducted simultaneously across airports in India, aimed at assessing institutional readiness and reinforcing civil defence capabilities.
