Mangaluru: The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Mangalore Diocese, in association with St. Joseph Vaz Silver Jubilee Committee, Mudipu, and ICYM Mangalore South Deanery, successfully organized EMMAUS 2025, a 12-hour spiritual gathering at St. Joseph Vaz Shrine, Mudipu. The event, held from 6:30 P.M. on February 22 to 6:30 A.M. on February 23, brought together over 350 youth for a night of prayer, worship, reflection, and faith-building activities.
A journey of faith and worship
The event began with “Walk with Mary”, a symbolic procession where youth recited the rosary while walking from Mudipu Junction to the St. Joseph Vaz Shrine. The procession concluded with the St. Joseph Vaz Novena, led by Rev. Fr. Santhosh Menezes, Assistant Parish Priest.
Very Rev. Fr. Cyprian Pinto, Vicar-Var of St. Joseph Vaz Mangalore South Deanery, delivered a thought-provoking talk on faith, overcoming challenges, and personal experiences of spirituality.
Music, adoration, and reflection
The evening featured Divine Jam, led by Br. Rony Ammebal and his team, a worship session with music that uplifted the youth. Rev. Fr. Cyril Lobo led an adoration session, during which participants engaged in prayer and confession.
Interactive group activities encouraged youth to share testimonies and reflect on their spiritual journey. The “Path of Mercy” session allowed participants to write down their weaknesses and symbolically surrender them to God through a campfire ritual.
Faith through film and Eucharistic celebration
Short films on faith and spiritual growth were screened, followed by a group discussion led by Rev. Fr. Ashwin Lohith Cardoza. The night concluded with a celebration of the Holy Eucharist, presided over by Rev. Fr. Santhosh Menezes, along with Rev. Fr. Denzil Lobo, Rev. Fr. Assissi Rebello, and Rev. Fr.
