A Mangaluru entrepreneur was defrauded of ₹2.7 lakh by a fraudster posing as a supplier of recycled plastic granules. The complainant, who owns a unit at Baikampady Industrial Area, received a WhatsApp message on July 24 from an unknown individual claiming to be a manufacturer of reprocessed plastic granules based in Maharashtra. The fraudster, identifying himself as Nirmal Shah from Zaveri Plastics, offered to supply the granules.

Due to a need for raw materials, the entrepreneur ordered one metric tonne of Natural Film Grade RP Granules and agreed on a delivery to Baikampady. Between November 25 and November 28, the complainant transferred ₹2.7 lakh in instalments to the bank account details provided by Shah. The fraudster later sent a transport receipt and invoices, claiming the goods had been dispatched via Balaji Transport, scheduled to arrive on November 29.

However, when the complainant inquired, all contact numbers for the transport agency and the driver were switched off, and attempts to reach Shah also failed. A subsequent investigation revealed no association between the fraudster and Zaveri Plastics. The case has been filed with the Panambur police station, and investigations are ongoing.
