ETAG Energietechnik Pvt Ltd, the Indian arm of German company ETAG GmbH, has received fast-track approval from the Development Commissioner of Mangalore Special Economic Zone (MSEZ) to establish a cutting-edge manufacturing plant in Mangaluru.
The upcoming facility is part of ETAG’s global expansion strategy, with operations being shifted from Germany and the Middle East to India to more effectively serve the Asian market. The plant is expected to be fully operational by early 2026.
In an official release, ETAG positioned itself as a rising leader in energy innovation, with a strong focus on hybrid energy storage solutions, ultra-fast EV charging networks, and advanced power technologies that support sustainable mobility and clean energy initiatives.
The Mangaluru facility will handle research, design, development, manufacturing, and deployment of next-generation energy systems. The company’s entry is seen as a boost to India’s clean energy mission and its aspirations to become a global innovation powerhouse.
Capt. Brijesh Chowta, MP of Dakshina Kannada, welcomed the move, stating that the BackToOoru initiative played a key role in encouraging ETAG to select Mangaluru as its Indian base. He extended a warm welcome to ETAG chairman Prakash Pereira and his team.
Earlier this year, ETAG and MSEZ formalized their partnership through an expression of interest, paving the way for this strategic investment in the coastal Karnataka region.
