
Facebook User Booked for Inflammatory Post in Mangaluru
Mangaluru: Konaje police have filed a case against a Facebook user operating under the name “Nichu Mangaluru” for sharing a provocative and objectionable post intended to disrupt communal harmony and public order.
Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal confirmed that Satish Kumar, a resident of Ullalthi in Ullal taluk, lodged a formal complaint after encountering the post online. The content allegedly contained incendiary language and disturbing remarks aimed at inciting unrest.
To support his complaint, the resident provided the police with screenshots of the post and the user’s profile, which have been accepted as evidence.
Following the complaint, police registered a case under Sections 192 and 353(1)(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, which pertain to acts of provocation and attempts to disturb public peace through electronic communication.
Commissioner Agrawal assured that a detailed investigation is currently underway, and necessary action will be taken based on the findings.
Authorities have urged citizens to refrain from sharing or reacting to inflammatory content online and to report such incidents to ensure social stability and cyber accountability.
