A police complaint has been lodged at the Surathkal station following the circulation of a fabricated and provocative message concerning the recent murder of Suhas Shetty. The message, which spread via WhatsApp, has raised serious concerns over attempts to disturb communal peace.
According to the complainant, Suhas Shetty’s uncle was at home on May 18 when he received a WhatsApp message from a contact identified as Manoj. The forwarded content included a screenshot originally posted in a group chat. It reportedly showed an image of Suhas Shetty along with a misleading caption.
The message falsely claimed that Suhas Shetty had been killed by his own family members due to his alleged involvement in sharing an explicit video of a female relative. The complainant stated that the post was intentionally created to mislead people, stir communal sentiments—particularly among the Hindu community—and incite unrest.
The individual behind the controversial message was named in the complaint, with a request for legal proceedings against them. The complainant emphasized the dangerous implications of spreading such misinformation, especially in sensitive situations involving murder investigations.
Surathkal police have officially registered the case and initiated an investigation to trace the origin of the message and determine the motive behind its circulation.
