Families from Mangaluru and Puttur Seek Help to Return from Kashmir
A family of three hailing from Puttur has found themselves stuck in Kashmir and recently contacted the district helpline, requesting aid to make their way back home. Although all members are reportedly safe, tight security protocols and restrictions on movement in the region have made it difficult for them to travel. Additionally, the steep cost of air travel has further complicated their return.
Meanwhile, reports have also confirmed that another family — this one comprising four members from Mangaluru — is similarly stranded in the Valley. In a statement to The Times of India, the Mangaluru-based family shared that they were not part of any organized group and had embarked on their trip independently. They arrived in Kashmir earlier this week on Tuesday and are now actively trying to book flight tickets to head back as soon as possible.
Both the Puttur and Mangaluru families remain in touch with IPS officer R Chethan, who has been designated by the Karnataka government to coordinate with state residents currently facing travel challenges in Kashmir. His efforts are focused on assisting stranded Kannadigas and ensuring their safe and swift return.
Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation, and efforts are underway to facilitate their departure amid the challenging conditions.
