A domestic dispute escalated into a deadly confrontation late Wednesday night in Valachil, Mangaluru, claiming the life of a 50-year-old marriage broker and leaving his two sons seriously wounded.
The deceased, Suleman from Vamanjoor, was allegedly fatally stabbed by his relative Mustafa, aged 30, following a verbal clash. The argument is believed to have stemmed from ongoing tensions between the two families. Suleman’s sons—Riyab and Siyab—sustained severe injuries while attempting to protect their father during the assault.
Sources reveal that Suleman had arranged Mustafa’s marriage to a woman named Shaheenaz around eight months ago. However, the marriage hit a rough patch, and the woman returned to her parental home two months prior. This development reportedly soured the relationship between the families.
On the night of the incident, Suleman and his sons visited Mustafa’s residence after receiving an offensive phone call. Eyewitnesses stated that an initial discussion failed to ease tensions, prompting Mustafa to launch a sudden and brutal knife attack. Suleman suffered a fatal neck wound, while his sons were stabbed during the struggle.
Local residents acted swiftly, transporting the injured to Janapriya Hospital around 11 p.m. Medical professionals declared Suleman dead upon arrival. The injured sons remain under treatment.
Authorities at Mangaluru Rural Police Station have booked Mustafa under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. He was arrested shortly after the incident. Investigations are ongoing.
