Three tragic accidents have shaken the Dakshina Kannada district, claiming the lives of individuals and leaving several others injured.
1. Autorickshaw Overturns, Claiming Passenger’s Life:
Mahammad Altaf (19) lost his life after the autorickshaw he was traveling in collided with a two-wheeler and overturned. The incident, which occurred near Panemangaluru, was reportedly caused by the negligent driving of autorickshaw driver Mahammed Shabeer. Altaf sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a private hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds. The two-wheeler rider and pillion rider also sustained injuries in the accident.
2. Two-Wheeler Collision Leads to Rider’s Death:
Chidananda Kamath died in another accident when his two-wheeler collided with a car near Kayarapadpu. The collision occurred as Kamath was traveling from Salethur to Monthimar. The car driver, allegedly driving negligently, hit the two-wheeler and fled the scene. Kamath sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where he later passed away.
3. Autorickshaw Overturns, Driver Dies:
In a separate incident, autorickshaw driver Dinesh K lost his life after his vehicle overturned near Gadakondi in Kainyoor village. Three passengers, including two children, were traveling in the autorickshaw at the time of the accident. The driver and passengers fell onto the road as the autorickshaw overturned. Despite receiving first aid at Uppinangady government hospital and being shifted to Puttur government hospital, Dinesh K could not be saved.
Investigations and Legal Action:
Cases have been registered at the respective traffic police stations, and investigations into the causes of these accidents are ongoing. The community mourns the loss of lives and extends condolences to the bereaved families while emphasizing the importance of road safety and responsible driving.
