A fire erupted at a lodge in the city’s port area on Saturday, causing significant property damage, with losses amounting to several lakh rupees.

According to reports, a guest had rented a room on the second floor of the lodge, but it was left locked and vacant during the afternoon. Later in the evening, smoke was observed coming from the room, prompting immediate action.

Fire and emergency services personnel quickly responded to the scene and discovered that the television, bedding, and furniture in the room had been completely destroyed by the fire. Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit in the air conditioner.
