First Year Student In Mangaluru Alleges Ragging And Assault

A 19-year-old clinical psychology student from a private college in Mukka, Mangaluru, has filed a complaint with Surathkal police, alleging ragging and assault by senior students. The incident reportedly caused the complainant to suffer a bleeding left ear.

In his complaint, the student stated that on November 25, he received a call from senior student Sidais, who directed him and his friends—Prateek, Akash, Gulsar, and Hadi Bekkar—to a location near Surathkal bridge, shared via WhatsApp. Upon arrival, they were taken to a room where Sidais, along with Amal Krishna and Sajid, verbally abused them.

The complainant was allegedly forced to sing and dance but resisted, prompting Sidais, Amal Krishna, and Sajid to slap him. Subsequently, other seniors, including Shibin, Azeem Shah, Adam, Fahad, Atul K, Dilip, and Abjal, joined in, issuing death threats if the complainant or his friends reported the matter.

Fearful, the group returned home without reporting the incident initially. However, the complainant sought treatment at the college hospital after noticing bleeding from his ear the following day. He then informed the college dean and the anti-ragging committee. The dean assured him of an inquiry into the matter.

Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
