Four-Lane Highway Development Between Mani and Sampaje Gets Green Light

In a significant development for Dakshina Kannada, MP Capt Brijesh Chowta announced that the state government has granted approval to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for upgrading the Mani-Sampaje stretch on NH-275 into a four-lane highway. This major move follows a request from the MP to PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi during his recent visit to Mangaluru. The approval marks a crucial step toward the highway’s expansion, which spans 71.60 km.

As a result of the prompt response from the Public Works Department (PWD), consultants will soon be appointed to draft the DPR for the widening project. The cost of preparing the DPR has been allocated at Rs 3.19 crore under agency expenses. The tender process for selecting the agency to develop the DPR will commence shortly.

Chowta praised the PWD for its quick action and highlighted that several national highways in the region, including BC Road-Addahole and Punjalkatte-Charmadi, are already being upgraded. This project is expected to improve connectivity and foster economic growth in Dakshina Kannada, benefiting major areas like Kukke Subrahmanya Temple, Mangaluru port, and Mangaluru International Airport.

With the obstacles cleared and cooperation from local legislators, Chowta expressed confidence that the process would be completed swiftly, finally bringing the long-awaited Mani-Sampaje highway development project to fruition.
