Despite spending Rs 30 lakh on his car, a Mangaluru resident has been left frustrated and exhausted after failing to receive his registration certificate (RC) for over six months. Lokesh, from Kodikal, has spent countless hours shuttling between the post office, the RTO, and the car dealership, but the crucial document remains elusive.
Lokesh’s car, registered with the number KA 19 MP 9063, was initially registered on October 1, 2024. Permission for the registration was granted on October 7, and the HSRP (High Security Registration Plate) was completed by October 8. By October 19, the RC smart card was generated, and the online status indicated that the document was dispatched from the Mangaluru RTO on October 21.
However, when Lokesh visited the Toyota dealership in Mangaluru, where he purchased the vehicle, he was informed that all necessary procedures had been completed, and the issue was now in the hands of the RTO. Upon visiting the RTO, he was told the RC had already been dispatched and advised to inquire at the post office. Unfortunately, the post office had no record of receiving the smart card. Attempts to track the dispatch using the provided number also yielded no results.
Despite regulations mandating that an RC must be delivered within 90 days, over six and a half months have passed without any resolution. This delay has forced Lokesh to drive his new, expensive car without the proper documentation. What makes the situation even more frustrating for Lokesh is that his friends, who purchased vehicles around the same time, received their RCs without any issues, adding to his dismay.
