The Mangaluru CCB police have arrested an accomplice of notorious gangster Kali Yogish, who had been evading capture for nearly nine years. The police also seized 53 grams of MDMA, worth Rs 5 lakh, from the suspect.
Following a tip-off, CCB officials apprehended the accused while he was allegedly selling drugs in the Nanthoor area of Mangaluru, after smuggling them from Kasargod.
The arrested individual has been identified as Abdul Aseer, also known by several aliases—Saddu, Saadu, and Maya. He is 32 years old and hails from Nangi House, Nangi Kadappuram, Mogral post, Kasargod district, Kerala.
Abdul Aseer is a known associate of gangster Kali Yogish, who is currently believed to be hiding abroad. Aseer has a history of involvement in criminal activities, including the infamous shootout at Rajdhani Jewellers in Puttur. After securing bail in that case, he went on the run and failed to attend subsequent court hearings.
The suspect has multiple cases against him, including the murder of Shafiq at Kumble, a POCSO case, theft, and a vehicle arson incident at Kasargod town police station. He currently has an active warrant for his arrest.
The operation was conducted under the leadership of Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal IPS, with supervision from Deputy Commissioners of Police Siddharth Goyal IPS (law and order) and K Ravishankar KSPS (crime and traffic). The CCB team was headed by ACP Manoj Kumar Naik, supported by inspectors Rafiq K M, PSIs Sharanappa Bhandari, Sudeep M V, Narendra, ASIs Mohan K V, Ram Poojary, Sheenappa, Sujan Shetty, and other CCB staff.
A case has been registered, and further investigations are ongoing.
