Mangaluru: Unidentified individuals vandalized the garden and flower pots of DKZP Upgraded Primary School in Peroditayyakatte, Belthangady taluk. The incident likely occurred on Friday, when the school was closed to observe mourning for former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, according to Benedicta Pais, the in-charge headmistress.

The damage was discovered on Saturday, prompting the school to inform its School Development and Monitoring Committee (SDMC) and alumni association, who reported the matter to the beat police. While no formal complaint has been filed, a report will be submitted to the Block Education Officer (BEO) on Monday, Pais confirmed.

The headmistress mentioned this is the first instance of such vandalism and noted that the school had no prior disputes. Following the incident, concerns have arisen about the safety of the school’s kitchen garden. Police have advised the SDMC to install CCTV cameras for added security.

The school, which has a current enrollment of approximately 75 students, is taking steps to enhance campus safety in the wake of this event.
