Mangalore University (MU) is facing another setback in the undergraduate exam result process due to ongoing issues with the Unified University and College Management System (UUCMS). Despite completing the evaluation for the first, third, and fifth-semester exams in January 2025, MU officials are struggling to upload the results to the UUCMS portal.

The UGC guidelines mandate that exam results must be uploaded within a month of the exams’ completion. However, the glitch-ridden UUCMS portal has caused repeated delays, with the system often being unresponsive. H Devendrappa, the Registrar (Evaluation) at MU, explained that while the evaluation process finished last week, uploading the results has been a major hurdle.

“Sometimes it works, most of the time the portal is unresponsive. Officials are helpless when this happens. If there is a glitch, we have to contact people in Bengaluru. Our officials can’t always travel there to sort out these issues,” said Devendrappa. This ongoing problem has made it difficult for the university to meet its deadlines.

Despite these challenges, the university remains hopeful about releasing the results on time. “It’s an uphill task, but we are working hard to release the results by the end of this month,” Devendrappa added. He also mentioned that there is relatively less pressure for early release of odd semester results compared to even semesters.

Meanwhile, college principals and management are urging the government to address the ongoing issues with the UUCMS. “It’s been several years since the portal was introduced, and there are still unresolved issues, from admission to results. Students are the ones who suffer, but the government hasn’t done enough to fix these problems,” a college principal from a government first-grade college remarked.

The delay has sparked concern across the academic community, highlighting the need for a more reliable system to handle critical university processes efficiently.
