Mangaluru– Continuous rainfall across Dakshina Kannada has led to school and Anganwadi holidays being declared on Saturday in the Ullal, Mangaluru, and Bantwal taluks, as announced by local tahsildars.

Several low-lying areas, including Valacchil, Addur, Edapadavu, and Bajpe Ekkar, are facing flood-like conditions. In response, fishermen have been warned against venturing into the deep sea.

Authorities are urging parents to keep children away from flood-prone zones, riversides, and coastal stretches to avoid any mishaps. Tourists have similarly been advised to steer clear of riverbanks during this period.

All incident commanders have been placed on high alert and instructed to act swiftly on rain-related grievances. In Bantwal taluk, a relief centre has been set up at Panemangaluru to handle any emergency situations.
