A honey buzzard, found in distress near the MRPL scrap yard, was recently rescued, treated, and successfully released back into the wild by Dr. Yashaswi Naravi from Chitte Pili Rescue Centre. The bird, initially mistaken for an eagle, was discovered by MRPL employee Daniel Tauro on October 30 at around 4:55 AM.

Tauro received a call from Lakshmeesha informing him that a bird, unable to fly or move since the previous afternoon, was stranded at the yard behind the data center. Upon reaching the site, Tauro found Jerrome Serrao, Ganesh, and Prasad, who had safely kept the bird in a cool place and ensured it had access to water. As it was nearing the end of the work shift, Tauro decided to transport the bird to Mangaluru for treatment. The IT support staff provided a large cardboard box to secure the bird for the journey.

Dr. Yashaswi identified the bird as a honey buzzard and suspected it had suffered an electric shock, which likely caused its inability to fly. Fortunately, there was no significant damage, and the bird was expected to recover fully within a few days. Under Dr. Yashaswi’s care, the bird was treated until November 7 before being released back into the wild.

To ensure the bird felt comfortable, Dr. Yashaswi returned to MRPL to release it in its familiar environment.
