In a coordinated crackdown, the Mangaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) police raided an unauthorized hookah lounge operating in the parking zone of Mack Mall, Kankanady—within Mangaluru East Police Station limits.

The outlet, known as Black Moon Resto Café, held a valid trade license from the Mangaluru City Corporation to run a cafeteria during 2023–24. However, officials discovered it had been covertly running a hookah bar, flouting public health and licensing laws.

Acting on a tip-off, the CCB booked three individuals: Siddiq alias MFC Siddiq, Abdul Naseer, and Safwan. Authorities allege the trio used the café front as a cover to attract young customers and promote tobacco substance use for illicit gains.

Police confiscated hookah paraphernalia and tobacco-based items from the premises during the raid.

The enforcement was executed under the supervision of CCB ACP Manoj Kumar Naik. The raid was led by Inspector Rafique K M, with the support of PSI Sudeep M V, Sharannappa Bhandari, ASI Sujan Shetty, and the CCB team, joined by PSI Manohar Prasad and personnel from Mangaluru East Police Station.
