The Central Crime Branch (CCB) in Mangaluru has dismantled a notorious interstate network engaged in narcotics distribution and illicit weapon trade across Karnataka and Kerala. In a series of three operations, authorities apprehended five criminals, confiscating three firearms, six live rounds, 12.89 kg of marijuana, and three vehicles.

Following intelligence inputs, officers intercepted a Scorpio (KL-14-G-9080) exhibiting suspicious movement near Natekal, Mangaluru, on March 12. This led to the capture of two suspects: Noufal (38), a resident of Kukum West, Eleari Post, Kasaragod, Kerala, and Mansoor (36) from Kudapadavu, Paiwalike village, Kasaragod. Seized assets included two handguns, four live bullets, two mobile phones, and an SUV, with a total estimated worth of ₹14.6 lakh. The case is now under investigation at Konaje police station.

Initial inquiries revealed Noufal has six prior cases in Kerala linked to drug peddling, while Mansoor faces four charges, including narcotics trafficking and issuing threats.

Drug trafficker caught in Arkula

On the same day, CCB officers intercepted a red vehicle smuggling cannabis from Kerala into Mangaluru, intended for illegal distribution. The driver, Abdul Latif alias “Thoku Latif” (29), originally from Mangalpadi Panchayat, Kasaragod, but residing near Kozhikode Airport, was taken into custody. A significant cache of marijuana was confiscated from his car.
