Mangaluru– Legislative Council member Ivan D’Souza launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led central government, accusing it of abusing the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for political vendettas and undermining constitutional values.

Speaking at a press meet, D’Souza stated that the BJP has politicized the ED to target opposition leaders and suppress dissent. “The Supreme Court has made it clear that the ED has been misused. This reveals how the government has weaponized institutions for its benefit,” he said, adding that such actions discredit democracy.

He particularly condemned the implication of the Chief Minister’s wife in the MUDA scam. “There was no financial wrongdoing or monetary exchange. Still, ED was brought in. This raises serious questions on the intent and legality of such actions,” D’Souza pointed out.

He further questioned how the ED could probe leaders like D.K. Shivakumar and G. Parameshwara in what are essentially civil matters. “The Supreme Court itself has reiterated that ED cannot interfere in civil disputes. So what justification does the Centre have?” he asked.

Calling the misuse of the ED an assault on federal principles, he declared that the Congress party would pursue legal remedies and hold the government accountable. “The Home Minister and the Prime Minister must take full responsibility,” he asserted.

Ivan D’Souza demanded a Parliamentary debate on the matter and called for resignations from those guilty of politicizing investigative agencies.
