A family dining at a restaurant in Kankanady on Sunday returned to find their car broken into and valuables stolen. The vehicle’s left side window was shattered, and the left dashboard was forcibly opened.
According to the police, unidentified miscreants made off with a laptop from the back seat and a vanity bag containing expensive jewellery, including a diamond necklace, two diamond rings, and two diamond earrings. The stolen items, valued at approximately ₹4.8 lakh, were accompanied by important documents such as the complainant’s driving licence, PAN card, voter ID, ATM card, car registration certificate, and the complainant’s husband’s driving licence.
Mangaluru East Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to identify and apprehend the culprits.
Authorities have urged vehicle owners to avoid leaving valuables or important documents unattended in parked cars, as such incidents are often targeted by thieves.
