“The Technocrats,” the student association of the Department of Computer Applications at SJEC, hosted Joshiana 13.0, a prestigious two-day National Level IT Fest. This event was designed for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, including those pursuing MCA, M.Sc., BCA, and B.Sc. (CS) degrees, and was organized under the aegis of the Department of Computer Applications. Joshiana 13.0 provided a dynamic platform for showcasing the skills and talents of the brightest minds in the field.
Joshiana 13.0 was inaugurated on Thursday, 29 August 2024, with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Delwin D’Sa, Manager of Software Development at Riskonnect Services Ltd. The ceremony was presided over by Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash Dsouza, Director of SJEC. The Guests of Honour included Rev. Fr. Kenneth Rayner Crasta, Assistant Director of SJEC, and Dr. Rio D’Souza, Principal of SJEC. Other distinguished guests were Dr. Hareesh B, Head of the MCA Department. Mr. Brill Brenhill, Convener of Joshiana 13.0,Ms. Nishmitha J, Co-Convener of Joshiana 13.0, Mr. Jessen Avin Warthika, President of Technocrats, and Ms. Neha Dinakar Ail, Treasurer of Technocrats.
The ceremony began with a soulful prayer song, setting a serene tone. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp followed, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and wisdom. Dr. Hareesh B, the Head of the Department, welcomed the gathering and set the stage for an unforgettable day. He also introduced the Chief Guest, Mr. Delwin D’Sa, and the Director felicitated the Chief Guest.
Mr. Jessen Avin Warthika, President of the Technocrats, briefed the audience about the events scheduled for the two days. The Chief Guest then unveiled the trophies for which the participants would compete. In his address, Mr. Delwin D’Sa emphasized adaptability as the cornerstone of success in the ever-evolving tech landscape. He encouraged students to embrace change, stay curious, and hone their life skills.
Dr. Rio D’Souza, Principal of SJEC, and the Guests of Honour shared thought-provoking insights. He painted a vivid picture of the future, where current science fiction would seamlessly blend into reality. His words resonated with the audience, inspiring them to push boundaries and envision a world shaped by their innovations.
Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, the President of the function, captivated the audience with an inspiring story about Elon Musk. In this narrative, Musk emphasized that dreams have the power to transform into reality. He underscored the significance of collaboration within the industry, highlighting how partnerships and collective efforts drive innovation and progress.
The Convener, Mr. Brill Brenhill, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the dignitaries, organizing committee, volunteers, and participants. He highlighted the tireless efforts behind the scenes and set the stage for an action-packed fest. The MCA students organized the events for the two days and invited a good number of internal and external judges. So far, 30 teams have registered for Joshiana 13.0, with approximately 310 people attending the fest.
The fest includes 10 events: AstroHack (Coding), WebCraft (Web Designing), Interstellar Intellect (IT Manager), Infognite (IT Quiz), Future Wave (Product Launch), Cloaked (Surprise Event), Outlast (Team Event), Fractal Fortune (Treasure Hunt), Stellar Stories (Real Making), and Cosmic Beat (Group Dance). These events were designed to test the technical skills of the participants.
