Mangaluru– As tensions escalate in West Asia, Kannadigas residing in conflict-hit zones of Israel and Iran say they are safe for now but living under constant anxiety.

Pradeep Koila, a native of Koila near Uppinangady in Dakshina Kannada and currently working in Tel Aviv as a caregiver, described the situation as tense. “We’re safe, but there’s a lingering fear. Anything could happen anytime,” he said. He added that the Israeli government has shown strong support for Indian nationals and provided safety tools like the Home Front Command app, which issues real-time alerts, safety instructions, and bunker locations.

Pradeep noted that many bunkers have been made available and that he’s staying with several other Kannadigas, including those from Dakshina Kannada.

Meanwhile, another Kannadiga in Tel Aviv reported worsening conditions as fresh attacks continued on Monday. The Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv has reiterated its advisory urging all Indian nationals to stay alert, avoid unnecessary movement, and follow all safety protocols. The embassy’s 24/7 helpline numbers are:

Concerns are also rising for Kannadiga students in Tehran. Arathi Krishna, deputy chairperson of the NRI Forum Karnataka, said she is in contact with the Ministry of External Affairs to assist nine students stuck in Zafaraniyeh, Tehran, who had gone to study medicine. A formal request has been submitted to Union Minister S. Jaishankar for immediate evacuation.
