In a move to bolster inter-state coordination and maintain law and order along the Karnataka-Kerala border, senior police officials from both states convened for a high-level meeting on Monday, June 2. Mangaluru Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy and Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Dr. Arun K met with Kasargod SP Vijay Bharat Reddy as part of ongoing efforts to promote peace and enhance collaboration in the border region.

The meeting aimed to address several critical concerns, particularly focusing on tracking suspects and absconders linked to communal incidents. The officials emphasized the need for improved coordination to defuse rising tensions and prevent potential flare-ups.

Joint surveillance, coordinated operations, and planned raids were also discussed, especially targeting illegal activities such as unauthorized cattle and sand transportation across the state line. The exchange of intelligence on individuals suspected of stoking communal discord was a key part of the agenda.

The discussions also extended to the safety of students from Kerala who are pursuing their education in Mangaluru. Measures to ensure their security and peaceful academic environment were explored thoroughly.

This collaborative effort marks a significant step in ensuring that the border remains peaceful and that criminal elements exploiting state boundaries are swiftly dealt with through shared policing strategies.
