Puttur: A resident of Adoor in Kasaragod district, identified as Satyanarayana Adiga, has been booked by the Puttur Town police for allegedly circulating inflammatory content via WhatsApp that could provoke unrest and disturb public peace.
Police allege that the provocative messages shared by the accused posed a threat to communal harmony and could have led to a breach of law and order.
Acting promptly, law enforcement registered an FIR on June 5, 2025, under Crime No. 42/2025, invoking Sections 353(2) and 196(1)(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Officials confirmed that an in-depth investigation is in progress and emphasized that strict action will be taken.
“Any attempt to disrupt social stability through digital platforms will be dealt with firmly,” said a senior police officer.
