The Kavoor police arrested Mohammad Nadeem (34) from Thiruvail, Vamanjoor, Mangaluru, on Sunday for illegally possessing and intending to sell drugs.
The police reported spotting Nadeem standing suspiciously near the road heading to Bangra Kuloor. When officers approached him for questioning, he attempted to escape by getting into his car. The police intercepted him, and a search revealed that he was carrying 202 grams of ganja worth ₹16,000 and 8 grams of methamphetamine valued at ₹40,000 in his vehicle.
Authorities seized the car, estimated to be worth ₹1 lakh, along with the drugs. Nadeem was taken into custody, and legal proceedings have been initiated against him.
This arrest marks another significant step in the fight against illegal drug activities in the region. The police reiterated their commitment to cracking down on such offenses and urged citizens to report any suspicious activities.
