Mangaluru : A 39-year-old Vietnamese chef, a crew member of a 19-member ship, suffered a heart attack after anchoring at Mangalore port. He was rushed to KMC Hospital, where a team of doctors led by Dr. Padmanabha Kamat performed emergency angioplasty, saving his life.

The patient suffered a re-infarction during the night, requiring immediate angioplasty. The medical team, including Dr. Aishwarya and Dr. Anand, worked swiftly to stabilise his condition.

Dr. Padmanabha Kamat stated that the situation was critical, but the team’s quick action and the advanced facilities at KMC Hospital enabled them to perform the angioplasty successfully. The patient is recovering in the intensive care unit.

Sagaer Siddiqui, Regional COO of KMC Hospital, highlighted the challenges of treating international patients, including language barriers, insurance coverage, and medical record verification. He praised the team’s efficiency and preparedness in handling emergencies, citing the successful treatment of the Vietnamese patient as an example.
