Mangaluru – The statewide KSRTC employees’ bandh scheduled for Tuesday demanding salary revision and arrears payment is expected to receive partial support in the Mangaluru division, according to labor leaders. However, transport officials downplayed its likely impact.

Rajesh Shetty, KSRTC Mangaluru division controller, confirmed that services ran normally on Monday with no disruption. “All buses are operating as usual,” he stated, noting that Tuesday bookings were low compared to usual days, indicating public apprehension.

In light of a High Court directive, the administration believes the strike participation will be limited, as employees face the threat of disciplinary action. Officials mentioned that efforts are ongoing to dissuade workers from joining the protest.

Praveen, president of the KSRTC Employees and Workers Association, Mangaluru division, said the organization’s head office had issued a notice urging the division’s 1,900 employees to join the strike.

On Monday night, fewer passengers were seen at the Mangalore bus stand, possibly due to early reports about the impending strike. Some passengers were seen inquiring about the strike, but officials at the bus stand claimed they had no confirmed information to offer.

With tensions rising, the situation remains uncertain for Tuesday’s travel plans across the division.
