Kukke Subrahmanya Temple Gears Up for Champa Shashti Festival
Kukke Sri Subrahmanya Temple is set to celebrate the grand Champa Shashti festival from November 27 to December 12. The highlight, the Champa Shashti Maharathotsava or the chariot festival, will take place on December 7.
The festivities begin with the moola mrithika prasada collection ritual on November 26, followed by the kopparige ritual on November 27. Key events include the Lakshadeepotsava (lighting of one lakh lamps) and kunitha bhajane on November 30.
Preparations for the festival were reviewed in a preliminary meeting chaired by Sullia MLA Bhagirathi Murulya and temple administrative officer Jubin Mohapatra. The MLA emphasized ensuring smooth execution of all rituals and adequate facilities for devotees, who are expected from across India and abroad.
The temple administration has prioritized safety, parking, and security to accommodate the large influx of devotees. Various committees have been formed, and public suggestions have been sought to ensure seamless arrangements.
Known as Subrahmanya Jatre, this festival highlights the temple’s sacred significance and aims to provide an inclusive and spiritually enriching experience for all attendees.
