Land Trades’ Vidya Sankalp empowers rural DK school with new computer lab
Mangaluru, June 18, 2025:
As part of its flagship CSR initiative Vidya Sankalp, Land Trades Builders & Developers has inaugurated a fully equipped computer lab at Subodha High School, Panaje in Puttur Taluk, marking a milestone in rural educational upliftment in Dakshina Kannada.
The computer lab, inaugurated on Wednesday, is expected to benefit over 100 students, making digital learning more engaging and impactful for rural youth. The initiative aligns with Land Trades’ continued focus on bridging the urban-rural education gap through meaningful infrastructure support.
Inauguration ceremony highlights
The inauguration was led by Mr K. Shrinath Hebbar, Managing Director of Land Trades, in the presence of Mr Upendra Balyaya Devasya, Chairman of Panaje Vidyavardhaka Sangha. Other guests included Mr Harshith Shekar Shetty, Director and CFO of SCTPL, TV anchor Hema Jayarama Rai, Mr Jayanth Rai Kadamaje, and PTA President Dr Haji Aboobakker.
Speaking to the assembled students and parents, Mr Hebbar said,
“Education should go beyond the classroom. In today’s digital age, computers open a window to the world and prepare you to face future challenges.”
Scholarships and community recognition
Six high-achieving students—Sushmitha, Gagan, Deepak, Kalandar Sizan, Bhuvit Raj, and Tanvi—were presented with Land Trades Vidya Sankalp Scholarships for academic excellence.
A special mention was made of Mr Rakesh Rai Kadamaje, a former student of Subodha High School and an avid cyclist, whose cycling campaign helped raise funds for the project. Sharing his personal journey, Rakesh credited the power of public participation for realising the initiative.
Youth volunteers Mohan Panaje, Harish Panaje, and members of Puthila Parivar Seva Trust were felicitated for their behind-the-scenes support. The school also honoured both Mr Hebbar and Mr Kadamaje for their contributions to local education.
A continuing CSR journey
This marks the second major initiative under the Vidya Sankalp programme, launched on Children’s Day 2024, when Land Trades donated a digital classroom to the Government Primary School in Balanaje, Ujire, Belthangady Taluk. The programme focuses on delivering critical learning infrastructure to underprivileged schools across the region.
In a heartfelt conclusion, Mr Mahabaleshwara Bhat, the School Correspondent, welcomed the gathering, while Headmistress Smt Nirmala delivered the vote of thanks. The event, compered by teachers Mr Sudhir and Ms Vinutha, was attended by a large crowd of students, staff, alumni, and well-wishers.
