Subramanya: The Mangalore-Bangalore railway line between Sakleshpur and Ballupet faced a major setback when a hill collapsed onto the tracks, disrupting train services. The incident occurred on August 10, leading to the suspension of all train operations along this route.

Efforts to clear the soil from the tracks began immediately after the landslide but encountered additional challenges when another soil collapse occurred during the clearing operations. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, though a Hitachi vehicle became stuck in the collapsing soil.

Despite making progress in the clearing efforts, there remains a risk of further landslides from both sides of the affected area. Consequently, officials anticipate that train services may be suspended for an additional two days until the completion of soil clearance and track repair work.

Complicating matters further is a subsequent hill collapse near the site being cleared for repairs. This secondary collapse has resulted in large boulders obstructing the track, necessitating their removal before repairs can proceed.

The ongoing disruption has caused significant inconvenience and hardship for passengers who have been without adequate train services for nearly two weeks due to various factors, including landslides.
