Traffic on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru highway (NH75) via Shiradi Ghat was disrupted due to landslips at Doddathappale village in Sakleshpur taluk, Hassan district, Karnataka, on August 2. Heavy rainfall triggered fresh landslips, compounding the problem as efforts to clear previous debris were still underway. Some vehicles were stuck in the mud, further complicating the situation.

Additionally, a landslip at Puttur Bypass Road affected traffic on the Mangaluru-Madikeri-Mysuru National Highway, causing further disruptions. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has hired excavators to clear the roads and restore traffic flow.

For the past two weeks, the Shiradi Ghat stretch of NH75 has been plagued by repeated landslips, significantly affecting vehicle movement. Officials are on-site working to ensure the safety of travelers and expedite the clearance process.

The continuous landslips highlight the challenges of maintaining road infrastructure in areas prone to heavy rainfall and unstable terrain. The authorities are making every effort to mitigate the impact and ensure the safety and convenience of road users.
