On May 9, legislators from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi are set to meet the Governor to push for the transfer of the Suhas Shetty murder case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

There is growing suspicion that over 100 individuals may be involved in a conspiracy behind Shetty’s murder, with financial connections spanning state and international borders. Some Mangaluru police officials are also reportedly implicated, and multiple women who allegedly assisted in the crime remain unapprehended.

The legislators argue that only a comprehensive investigation by a national agency like the NIA can uncover the full extent of the conspiracy. However, there is limited support from the state government for such a move.

MLA Sunil Kumar confirmed that the coastal district MLAs will ask the Governor to intervene and ensure a thorough investigation into the case.
