A distressed leopardess ensnared in a trap near Beluvai, Moodbidri, was successfully freed by wildlife experts on Saturday. Dr. Yashaswi Naravi from the Chitte Pili Rescue Centre explained that the trap, likely set for a wild boar, had tightened around her tail. In a desperate bid to break free, she dragged the attached log along and climbed a tree, only to become further entangled.

Local residents, noticing the stranded big cat, swiftly alerted forest authorities, who then sought veterinary assistance. Responding promptly, Dr. Yashaswi and Dr. Meghana Pemmaiah arrived at the location, tranquilized the leopardess, and carried out a meticulous rescue operation.

Despite the ordeal, the feline suffered no significant wounds. After a period of observation to ensure her well-being, forest officials successfully reintroduced her to her natural habitat.
